The nonactive deputy chairmen of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Bibit S. Rianto and Chandra M. Hamzah, have received the letters to stop their prosecution (SKPP), which were directly handed to them by South Jakarta Prosecutor's office chief Setia Untung Arimuladi, at the South Jakarta State Prosecutor's office, Monday afternoon. Before being handed over, the SKPP letters were signed by both Bibit and Chandra, and then by the South Jakarta State Prosecutor.
The issuing of the SKPP letters means the prosecution for the two nonactive deputy chairmen of KPK is over. Thus, Bibit-Chandra are free from all prosecution related with the accusation of power abuse.
Bibit after the SKPP hand over thanked the Attorney General's Office (AGO) for issuing the SKPP. He re-confirmed that he never did any of the things accused.
"I thank the State Prosecutor and the AGO who were responsive to the people's aspiration so that the SKPP is issued. I never did any of the things accused so the SKPP deserved to be granted. We will cooperate better in the future to eradicate corruption."
Chandra gave a similar statement of gratitude to all parties, "I thank all parties, media, the people, who have all contributed to justice. I thank God whatever the condition is."
