President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono will introduce next week a new task force that will help the government eradicate backroom wheeling and dealing thought to characterize the "buying and selling" of justice in the country. Presidential special staff Denny Indrayana said Thursday the President and his aides were finalizing the concept of the task force. We held a preliminary discussion and reported to the President the progress of the plan to form the task force this afternoon. Early next week it will be announced and start working,” Denny told kompas.com after a meeting with the President at his private residence in Cikeas in the West Java regency of Bogor.
The fight against court mafia is part of Yudhoyono’s priority agenda in his first 100 days in office. The plan to form the task force came after a presidential fact-finding team discovered the role of case brokers in an alleged plot to frame Corruption Eradication Commission leaders. Denny said the task force would fall under the supervision of the presidential delivery unit (UKP4). "The fight against court mafia will involve other law enforcement agencies,” Denny said. Presidential spokesman Julian Aldrin Pasha said Yudhoyono would invite a number of law experts and practitioners to seek inputs concerning the task force.
